training to be soldiers, fight for our land. once in our lives, two years of our time... nananananana

indeed, welcome to Pulau Tekong.
the place where you sow your boys and harvest men at the end of it all.
i did my time there and i did it good.
Platoon 3's motto was "Do It Once, Do It Good, Whatever It Takes, Platoon 3"
whatever it took me indeed.

it was the 10th December 2008.
this marks 1/4 of NS served.

Welcome To Tekong, Welcome To BMTC Graduation Parade.

This place, a place i'll never forget, next to Hillgrove and Republic Polytechnic.

and here's the Eagle March Pass.

"mak nampak anak mak. lain dari yang lain, gigi boleh nampak"
"i saw you. the odd one out. i can see your teeth"

well, they were waving hysterically from the grandstand. all i did was give a huge grin.

"ladies and gentleman, you are now invited to put on the jockey cap for your son"

i maybe taller than my parents, but the rest of my company mates were taller than me.
most of them are above 1.75cm. tsk.
i'm like 1.72-1.73ish

and so, the soujaboyz will remember this day on.
it may not mean much to their parents or to the public, but considering what we've been through,
this was worth fighting for.

i think i was the only one doing candid shots there. everyone else was so formal-ish.

and so prize winners get to chill somewhere 'special'
bahh to that.

after the whole parade, i was drenched in 'mineral' water.

and the Eagle Prize winners.
[l to r: Kendrick (PL1 Best Rec), Taufiq (PL2 Best Rec), Kehong (PL4 Best Rec), 2LT Cher, PasirRis/Punggol MP, Adam (PL3 Best Rec) , Usmani (PL3) (Best Physical Trainee) , Charlie (PL3) (Company Best)

of course, if you recalled, Usmani was my nemesis, my rival, my challenger, my enemy in terms of Physical Training. but indeed, he got a well deserved Silver and thus, the Best PT award rightfully goes to him.
indeed, i came from a Platoon that produced winners. Notice that most of us are from PL3.

award winners get to beat the line and get to walk on the express lane.

but we still boarded the same ferry.
this could be my last tekong ferry ride.
goodbye Penguin.

(Hambaly and Sperm)

two contrasting specimens of Eagle.
Platoon 1s are relatively bigger than that of Platoon 3.
and i call him Sperm cos he's small.
and that name-calling started on the last few days.

"fuck, you're so short."
"Ouh, platoon best wanna play like this ah?"
"you're so short, what's shorter than a dwarf? a smurf?"

"smurf? Hahaha" the rest of the bunkmates.

"ouh, you wanna play it like that ah?"

"what's smaller than a smurf? sperm? yeah, sperm!" i'm such a bastard

nice stop for takeaway.
the 100 year old shop...Zam Zam

followed by a talkative taxi driver.

and the heavy field pack.

"in the early morning march, with a field pack on my back,
and the aching in my heart, and my body's full of sweat.
i'm a long long way from home, and i miss my lover so,
early in the morning march, when the cold wind blow.

when the cold wind blow. when the cold wind blow.
when the cold wind blow. when the cold wind blow."

and the next day, which is today, a good breakfast...
fatty mayo with thai chilli sauce, cheese, lettuce and ripper sausage.
the sausage been microwaved too long that it rips apart and is as hard as biscuits.
just nice.
