deep muziq presents: a love story
There was once a happy couple, Matt and Jolene.
They've been married for 8 years and have been blessed with a beautiful daughter, Mary Jane, who's 7 years old now.
Matt works as a managing director for a bank while Jolene is full-time housewife.
Things were going smooth for their happy marriage until news of Matt having an affair got to Jolene's ears.
Matt's mistress, Claire, urged that Matt should leave his wife.
So, Matt came home to Jolene and brought up the idea of a divorce. He even had the lawyer's letter prepared already, pending Jolene's confirmation signature.
They were discussing in their dining room while their daughter was busy watching the telly.
Jolene said,
"I would agree to sign the divorce proceedings but on one condition. For the next one month, before work, I'd request of you that you'd carry me in your arms from my bed to the door to see you off. And before going to bed, I'd request of you that you'd carry me in your arms from the living room to the bed"
it sounded like an easy task for Matt and therefore he agreed whole-heartedly.
The next morning, as promised, before going to work, Matt carried Jolene in his arms from the bed to the door. Carrying Jolene seemed to be and uphill task considering the pounds she gained throughout the 8 years of their marriage.
Upon reaching their front door, Matt put Jolene down and went to work.
Later that evening after Matt had already returned home, had dinner and was getting ready to get to bed,
he carried on with the routine of carrying his wife to the bed. Their daughter, Mary Jane, smiled and giggled looking at how lovey dovey her parents were. She felt fortunate at that point of time considering the fact that her bestest friend, Dew's, parents had just gotten a divorce. Mary Jane was oblivious to the news that her parents would be divorced in 29 more days and when that day comes, Mary Jane would appear wrecked and shattered.
Matt placed his wife of 8 years to the bed. And they went to sleep.
The next morning, Matt did the same scheduled routine. He carried his wife to the door.
and likewise, he did the same before going to bed.
This carried on for the next 28 days.
By then, Matt's mistress, Claire, was getting impatient. She wanted Matt all for herself and desperately needed Matt to leave Jolene and Mary Jane.
It was Day 29. One more day before the signing of the divorce letters. The morning was sombre. Jolene had put her best dress on, had her face made up and sprayed perfume on her. She was the sweetest looking mommy then and she smelt like daisies in the field.
Matt carried her in his arms. By then, Matt had already gotten used to this whole idea. Not only that, he realized that Jolene was getting lighter. She was losing weight. She had puffy eye bags underneath her eyes. All that must have been from the crying she's been doing in the middle of the night without Matt knowing. Her fine wrinkles, thought concealed by her first layer of foundation, didn't fail to catch Matt's attention.
Suddenly, Matt felt a fuzzy feeling inside of him. Mary Jane was happily watching her proud daddy carrying his beautiful ageing wife. He thought to himself, "This was the woman who'd sacrificed her 8 years to be with me... She grew old with me and her wrinkles are a testament to that. This was the girl that whom he dearly loved and vowed to care for her through thick and thin, through sick and health. She was the one who loved him and could not care less over the fact that Matt's hairline was receding. She was the caregiver to his beautiful daughter, Mary Jane..."
He put down his wife. Stared at her in the eyes.
There was silence. Jolene smiled. Hiding her hurt and denial over the fact that Matt was about to leave her and their daughter.
Matt took the divorce letters followed by a pen. He flipped the paper to the blank side and scribbled something.
He showed it to her. Jolene broke down in tears. Her make up made a stream of mess alongside with the tears. On the paper, Matt wrote ,"I'm sorry Jo. You're my one and only. I wanna grow old with you"
Matt honored his words and he broke off with his mistress and is now living happily with Jolene and Mary Jane. Matt was never happier and has vowed not to take his wife for granted. Everyday, he'd continue with his duty of carrying his wife although Jolene said there was no more need for that. But Matt felt obligated to do so. Here's to a love that nearly died...
