materialistic stories over ciggy and coffee

you know in tv shows where the lead character suddenly hears voices.
though involuntary, i believe that it does happen.

like when Fithrin was trying so hard to convince me. (no link!)
we discussed during our last midnight guard duty shift, accompanied with a cigarette and coffee.

"one day you'll see, its not just about the money. one day a girl will come a make you weak" fit insisted
"unlikely" i replied

"you won't be a rigger. next time, i'd see you with little adam, and you wont even invite me to your wedding" fithrin added
"no you won't. and you mean i have to invite you?" i added sarcasm

"see, you're mean. its ok if you dont invite me. i think you wearing a disguise, you like it. you like it when people fear you. like when boarding the bus, you pushed aliff so hard and they didnt dare to push you back. you love the power and the attention" fithrin tried to bring across his point
"i'm a peacock, what can i say?"

"one day a girl would come and change everything. whoa. i managed to understand your character"
"you're just scratching the surface" i was killing his attempt

"you have to understand that money wont really make a happy family"
"its because i came from the opposite. thats why money is key."

and then the convo ended. our cigarette was out.
the coffee finished.

"til i can buy a car, dont expect to see me wantin to settle"

____________

and do you know why in the first place why the convo happened?
cos i was keen to enter the rigging line.
especially the offshore oilrig. meaning, i'd be away from singapore for 3/4 of the year.
living alone. working. for every 3 months of work, 1 month back in singapore.
good pay. in order to get a car.

today
"mom, buy me a bike"
"license where?"
"ok, a car then"
"can. go kerja everything can"

and this is why i'm stressed.
life could be easier if i just sign on in the army.
the younger brother of what i'm driving.
i want one.
