when my mrs right is mrs wrong, in fact, mrs not'there'at'all
now, i knew I'd stumble into this type of movie every now and then, i just don't know when. and I'm grateful i chanced upon this today. Hello Stranger is an epic Thai love movie that takes place in Seoul, Korea. a place i would love to be in actually, second to Japan and a notch above Sydney. Seriously. its a story of two lonely Thais on a trip to Korea, eventually falling in love with one another after spending a few days together. but of course, the ending ain't cliché. its no (spoiler alert) happy ever after (spoiler alert) as I'd expected it.
i watched it with Deane, in fact, it was our first ever movie together after 10 years of knowing each other. how about that. not only that, it was my first Vivocity movie experience. pfft...
i don't know but this movie managed to tug my heartstrings. its like, i do wish to travel to a foreign place to find love. that would be the ideal. especially in a land with snow. now this ain't no sluggish Twilight romance movie, this is the sweet Dear John kinda movie. one where i get lost in the movie and be the lead and fall in love with the protagonist. kinda like as if i was the lead.
during the happy get-to-know-each-other scenes, i laughed, i smiled and i could relate to the scenes. for that immense 30 minutes of the film, i was in love. it was like i really was in love. that old estranged feeling inside me came undone and began to show. it felt familiar. my liver discharged the right amount of juice to make me feel warm and fuzzy. i miss that joy.
when i first saw the two protagonists in the show, they looked ordinary. no Hollywood stars. but their appearances grew on me. they were kinda cute and even cuter together. i really couldn't stop staring at the screen. in fact, i couldn't even bear to keep my eyes off it just in case i might miss the subtitles.
and when it came to the sad near-ending, i couldnt help but emote with the scene as well. no heavy waterworks here but still, trails of moisture did appear. and my runny nose didnt help as well. how i wish i was part of the show. in fact, it really made me wanna fall again. i ain't gonna delve deeper into the show, so go watch it if you wanna laugh, smile and cry. within the same 1h 37mins that is.
and after the show, i went to purchase 3 movie titles. Remember Me was part of it. yes, the one with "Edward" the vampire. and of course, a chillout at Vivo rooftop was necessary! was much needed and anticipated.
excellent saturday indeed. but then again "...when my mrs right is mrs wrong, in fact, mrs not'there'at'all"
"every once in a blue moon, comes a film that makes you wanna fall in love again. Hello Stranger falls under that" ~ deep muziq
